Two seasons of the highly rated sci-fi action series Eternal which aired on NBC will leave Netflix in various regions in March 2023 when its license is renewed.
Running for two seasons, the series tells the story of a historian, a soldier and a programmer who embark on a time travel adventure in search of shadowy criminals who aim to disrupt the time continuum.
Sadly, as any of the show’s fans will tell you, the series had a rocky ride while it was on the air, as NBC canceled it after just one season only to be renegotiated and renewed and then canceled again after a second season. However, it was given a two-part ending that concludes the story.
The series was created by Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan and starred Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Claudia Doumit, and Malcolm Barrett.
Shawn Ryan, executive producer of the series, has his next big project, the agent of the nightComing exclusively to Netflix in March 2023.
Broadcasting between October 2016 and December 2018, Netflix would gain streaming rights in dozens of regions in September 2017 and the rights to season 2 in March 2019.
When Eternal leave netflix?
Both seasons of Eternal will leave Netflix in all regions where it is available on March 20, 2023.
Unogs claims that at least (they don’t track all regions) 29 countries in total streamed the series with notable exceptions for the show, including Netflix in the United States (where the show currently resides exclusively on Hulu) and Australia (where it resides on 7plus).
The show’s removal coincides exactly four years after season 2 was added to Netflix.
The image below shows a takedown notice on the Netflix page for Timeless with its «Last day to watch on Netflix» listed as March 19.
Netflix, it’s worth noting, could renew Timeless’s license, but given that the show has ended and isn’t quite as in the spirit of the times as it once was, it seems highly unlikely.
