Roman Reigns’ empire extended to Montreal on Saturday when he retained his WWE Undisputed Universal Championship against Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber.

Zayn had all the momentum going into the match. He received a local welcome when he stepped out of the ring. He managed to overcome all of Reigns’ taunts and put the champion on the brink of losing multiple times with multiple Helluva Kicks and a Blue Thunder Bomb.

In the match, two referees were knocked down twice and interference from Jimmy Uso, who kicked Zayn multiple times. Jey Uso came back to prevent Reigns from hitting Zayn with a chair. However, Zayn ended up going through it and was chair hits anyway.

Several near knockdowns and punches from Superman later, Reigns stunned the Montreal crowd when he pinned Zayn in the ring.

To avoid another beating, Kevin Owens entered the ring and surprised Reigns and Paul Heyman. Owens also hit Jimmy Uso through the announce table.

At the end of the night, it was still Reigns’ backyard and he will face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39. Rhodes won the Royal Rumble and will receive a shot at the Undisputed Universal Championship.

Reigns has held the WWE title for over 900 days.

While Reigns proved to be the top dog, Montez Ford showed stellar potential during the Elimination Chamber match for the United States Championship.

Ford showed off his high-flying skills overnight. He climbed to the top of the trap, hung by his feet suspended in the air, and leaped to take down all of his competitors. He later went back and forth with Austin Theory and Seth Rollins, bouncing off the ropes and flipping them over to hit competitors outside the ring.

Ford received much praise on social media for his performance and was said to be doing well after it appeared he had picked up an injury late in the match. But the referees leaving the door open turned on the program between Logan Paul and Rollins. Paul would interfere in the match and allow Theory to take the lead.

Theory won the match and retained the United States Championship.
