Former NFL professional bowler Marcellus Wiley criticized the idea of transgender women participating in sports against biological women in a video posted to social media Saturday.
Wiley said in the video that she had no problem with transgender people, but would not agree with transgender women or girls competing against her daughter in sports.

«I don’t have a problem with transgender people. I do have a problem with athletes who are transgender trying to participate and transition from male to female and now play with women,» Wiley said. «And I’ll say that. Everyone can talk about Dave Chappelle all they want. I’m very clear on this. You can be a transgender. You can be the homie, but I’m damned if a male at birth turns into a female and tries to compete against my daughters. She’s not out there, we’re out there.
«Don’t make this a human rights issue, it’s a biological issue. Simple as that. Trust me, I’m a man.»

The former Buffalo Bills and San Diego Chargers star finished the video, saying it’s unfair for that to happen.

Wiley’s comments come weeks after surf star Bethany Hamilton said she would not compete against transgender women in the World Surf League (WSL). Hamilton said in her video that she would rather see the WSL create a new division.

«Personally, I think the best solution would be to create a different division so everyone can have a fair chance to show their passion and talent, and I think it’s really hard to imagine what the future of women’s surfing will look like at 15.» 20 years down the road if we move forward allowing this big change,” she said.
