On the first play of the second quarter of Super Bowl LVII, the Philadelphia Eagles decided to take a shot downfield, and it certainly worked.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts had a big pocket to work with thanks to his offensive line and allowed his wide receivers to develop their routes. But he had a play in mind when he looked downfield.
AJ Brown was running into the end zone and, while he was well defended, Hurts has seen this play before – just throw it down and watch his best receiver go down with it.

Hurts threw the pass to the left front pylon, and Brown reached up and went down with him to give the Eagles their second touchdown of the game.

As Brown celebrated with his teammates and Jake Elliott scored the extra point to make it 14-7, social media erupted over the big play.
But current NFL players seemed to expect it.
«Just throw it away, AJ gone to do the rest, such a special guy,» Tyreek Hill tweeted.
Others commented on the play, including Hill’s Miami Dolphins teammate Jaylen Waddle.

That was Hurts’ first touchdown in the Super Bowl. The first of the game came with a 1-yard run at the goal line, where Hurts got a push from everyone to get up early.
