Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs teammates celebrated their latest Super Bowl title on Wednesday. The beers were flowing and confetti was showered on the champions as they moved to the beat of their own drum.
Mahomes and the boys had a lot of fun last week. The two-time Super Bowl MVP was seen accidentally giving the Vince Lombardi Trophy to a fan and walking away. Fortunately, the trophy turned out to be a replica. The move drew praise from Tom Brady, who dabbled in avocado tequila during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl celebration in 2021.
However, not all Chiefs fans were pleased with the behavior.

A series of letters to the editor was published in the kansas city star on Sunday, and fans who wrote expressed their dismay at the beer-drinking celebration. One person wrote that Andy Reid shouldn’t have let it happen.
«The main reason is that a drinking Chief is not a good role model for young fans who are there to see their heroes. Second, even adult fans don’t want to see drunk players at this important celebration. Third, tragic things happen when it comes to drinking,» the person wrote.
«Some Chiefs even bragged via social media about how drunk they were afterwards. I’m embarrassed that the players I cheered on could barely walk after getting off the bus. This spectacle certainly made headlines in other cities.»

Someone else had a problem with the message it might be sending to young fans.
«Next time there’s a victory parade, drink your alcohol privately and discreetly. Impressionable young people deserve better role models than the ones you’ve shown twice.»
Separately, a Chiefs fan took issue with the tomahawk cut. It was cause for concern for a Native American activist who criticized the organization in an op-ed published just before kickoff.
«I was so embarrassed for my city and the Chiefs organization when broadcaster Mitch Holthus took the stage with the players and insisted they all join in the ‘arrowhead slam’ to cap off the celebration,» the person wrote.

«The Chiefs should do everything they can to protect their incredible brand by getting rid of the chop. Instead, all appearances Wednesday were still actively rooting for it.»

It’s clear the Chiefs can’t make everyone happy, but there’s likely more time to complain since Kansas City is full of future championship races.
